Hello all,

My name is Balen (BAY-lin) and I'll be your host through this new adventure.

First, some background about me:
I was born April 10th, very early in the morning measuring 51 cm (~21in ) and weighed in at 3945g ( 8lbs 11oz ).
My parents are doing well (Mom is recovering quickly) and we would all like to thank the Nurses and Doctors in Labour & Delivery and in Maternity at North York General Hospital.

At the moment this site is very new, as I haven't had a lot of time to work on it with all the other things I have to do (the usual - training my parents, charming my grand-parents, eating, etc.)

In the meantime, however; here are a couple of photographs of me and my parents
There are also pictures of me with my Grandparents and my various Uncles & Aunts.

As with all of us, there is a tale to be told in the naming of things. Here are a few links for those of you interested in the naming of me:

  • Balen is pronounced BAY-lin, to sound like the Hindu word for rolling pin
  • Balen is derived from the Sanskrit "bala" for youth. Bala-ji is also the name of an avatar of Vishnu's.
  • Sir Balen of Northumberland was also a knight of King Arthurs court, and his tragic tale is told in THE TALE OF BALEN by Algernon Charles Swinburne.
